The Benefits to Budgeting

The Benefits to Budgeting

It’s interesting how much money, or the lack of money, is tied to our personal well-being.  Worry about debt and your future ca create a sour attitude and can infect your work and home life.  It is one of the major contributors toward stress that can undermine your personal and professional life.  Many couples today find that they argue more and more about money or are even considering divorce over their financial problems.

Creating a budget ensures you avoid overspending and you save more.  By creating a budget, you are beginning the journey towards forward-thinking and planning out your financial life.  You will want to have this written down in a journal or you can create a financial spread sheet using Excel.  Simple budgeting everyday gives you more mental control over your future finances.  It helps you pay bills on time, build an emergency fund or save for something big like a car or home down payment.

Businesses must budget all the time to establish financial targets, allocate resources and to increase their overall performance for their shareholders.  This is something you should be doing too – think of your personal life like a business.  Make better decisions, research new ways to make more money, invest in your future, and budget your overall spending to grow you (YOU=Your business).

Christine’s Tip:

The people who are on the right financial track are those who are constantly moving out of their comfort zone and not leaving their financial future up to someone else – like their banker.  Instead of waiting for things to happen and then reacting, they are improving their situation by creating a doable budget that they can incorporate into their lives to follow on a daily basis.
